Copper theft in our area – watch for people working after regular hours

I’ve seen some emails from some of our residents who observed workers in our area after normal business hours.  They appear to be looking to steal copper wiring from light poles, Comcast or Qwest boxes along the street.  If you see anyone working on one of these that does not have a Col Springs Utilities, Comcast or Qwest truck, call the police.  There was a good article in the last Woodmen Edition about copper theft and that the city is asking for our help.  In case you missed it, follow this link:  http://waltpub.com/papers/we/wood%206-24-2011.pdf

1 Response to Copper theft in our area – watch for people working after regular hours

  1. Jovanka Mersman says:

Note that we recently (approx 9/9/11) had mail (which included checks) stolen from our mailbox on Golden Hills Road. The thieves then took the bank routing number off the checks, created new checks with fake names, and tried to pass the checks off at a computer store and Sam’s Club. Warning for homeowners to be careful with their outgoing mail.
